CALL TO ARTISTS & INVENTORS

Artists and designers have the opportunity to present and sell their work with water-related themes. Painting, drawing, sculpture, mixed media, installation, hands-on activities, etc. are all welcome!

You must bring the work between 7-9am and pick up artwork at 2pm on the day of the festival, or call to make special arrangements to install the art the day before.

PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Space is available on a first-come first-served registration process.

1) "THE VIBE" - LIVE ARTS HAPPENINGS

Sign up to do LIVE art-making activities at the festival (outdoor venue, no aerosol). Water-inspired painting/drawing, installations, demonstrations, happenings, art games, poetry, music, dance, etc.

2) ART SHOW

Submit up to 3 pieces for free. Artists keep 80% of all of your sales. Got more than 3? Consider registering as an Exhibitor.

On the day of the festival (or day before), bring with you:

• Hanging devices for each piece (easel, stand, clips, etc.)

• Blub / Artist Statement, connection to water (per piece or for series)

• Price, if for sale

(Artists keep 80% if sold, The Water Festival keeps 20% for administrative costs)

Let us know ahead of time how many pieces you'd like to submit, plus approximate sizes and mediums you work with (especially if 2-D vs. 3-D) so that we can plan the space accordingly. Artists must bring their own easels or stands. Some temporary walls will be set up under the tent at this outdoor venue, but space is limited and they will not be able to hold heavy weight. Contact us for special arrangements. Artists from out of town/state are responsible for their own shipping. Artists are responsible for displaying their art, although The Water Festival will have volunteers to assist in hanging the art. Participating artists will be listed on the website, but are responsible for additional publicity. The Water Festival is not responsible for lost or damaged art and artists are responsible for their own insurance. Some art may be hung the day before the festival. Overnight security will be on the festival grounds. Unjuried show – use discretion for this all-ages event. Ask if you have questionable subject matter. Limit of 3 pieces per artist. If you would like to show more pieces, consider registering for an Exhibitor Booth.

3) "DESIGN FOR WATER SOLUTIONS"
CONTEST

You have the opportunity to propose a design for an innovative water-related solution to our bio-region's water crisis, long term stewardship, and conservation. Teams are welcome - artist and scientist collaborations are encouraged but not required. Works submitted must have an arts-based concept. The best design idea will receive a certificate awarding winner with some assistance in furthering the concept, design, and implementation of the project. The winner will work closely with Tucson Arts Brigade development staff to prepare their projects for the next level of funding. All design submissions will be exhibited at this year's Water Festival. The panel of judges will be comprised of arts, sustainability, and engineering professionals. Proposals can include models, writings, video, maps, drawings or other materials that illustrate your work. Your contact information, a one page description, resume, and supplementary materials that document the work must be submitted in a folder or large envelope by the day of the festival. Include a SASE if you need the materials returned. Original artworks and displays must be dropped off and picked up on the day of the festival.
